Creator Stories: Food creator uses SoSpoilt to bring weeknight meals to life

 

When the pandemic hit, food creator Anthony a.k.a The Sunday Cook turned to SoSpoilt to share his flair for cooking with his fans online.

Anthony started The Sunday Cook 2 ½ years ago when his love for turning weeknight meals into Michelin star-worthy plates led him to start his own Youtube and Instagram page. Now he’s built up a following through sharing his favourite cooking tips and recipes online from his flat in London.

Growing up in South-East Asia, Anthony’s culinary influences embody a mix of cultures. His cooking takes inspiration from his studies in classical French cuisine as well as time spent in Australia, Switzerland, and now London, working for a luxury hotel group. “My cooking is a cultural fusion; it’s inspired by experiences,” says Anthony.

By sharing live cookalongs and tutorials, The Sunday Cook hopes to make beautiful and creative food more accessible from home.“I want to teach people how to maximise the efficiency of their home kitchen and transform it into an optimised workspace,” explains Anthony.

Anthony uses SoSpoilt to bring weekly live seasonal recipe tutorials and 1:1 cooking masterclasses to his fans. Many of who are spending more and more time indoors as the hospitality industry continues to be hit by the pandemic.

“I’m sure so many other people are living in a tiny flat in the city and it can be hard to create healthy and exciting meals every weeknight”, continued Anthony.

“Mid-week meals don’t have to be boring. I love the visual impact food can have and people deserve that every day, not just on special occasions and even more so these days.”

After being furloughed, Anthony took the opportunity to connect online with the contacts he’d made through his years of working in the hospitality industry.

“Shortly after the pandemic hit, I was furloughed and needed something to keep me busy. I thought, everyone else is at home so why not start sharing my passion for cooking through easy-to-follow recipes,” Anthony explained.

“I’d built up clients that I couldn’t afford to not talk to for 6 months. So I thought The Sunday Cook was the perfect platform to stay connected.”
